Derrick Tyrone Taylor, Sr.

Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Derrick Tyrone Taylor, Sr. will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 1:00PM at Shiloh First Baptist Church 122 Hooks Street Gordon, Georgia. Pastor Kendrick K. Mack will serve as eulogist. Interment will be held Monday, October 28, 2024 at 1:00PM at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery 2617 Vinson Highway Milledgeville, Georgia.

Brother Derrick “DT” Taylor, Sr. was born to the late Betty Lou Taylor-Knight and Douglas Landrum. He was the oldest of three children. Derrick was preceded in death by his siblings, Marie Shawna Baker and Keith Landrum. Derrick loved hunting, fishing, and listening to Prince.

He was a member of New Macedonia Baptist Church – Irwinton, Georgia where he joined at an early age. He later attended Shiloh First Baptist Church – Gordon, Georgia with his wife until his health began to decline.

He served in the United States Navy and retired from Central State Hospital after 20 years of dedicated service.

He was united in holy matrimony to his high school sweetheart Teresa M. Myrick and to this union two children were born.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, a dedicated and devoted wife of 28 years Teresa M. Taylor; two daughters, Asha Taylor of McIntyre, Georgia and Shivonta Veal of Milledgeville, Georgia; one son, Derrick Tyrone Taylor, Jr.; one brother, Huby Knight Jr; mother-in-law, Sandra Myrick of Gordon, Georgia; sister-in-law, Tashika Myrick of Gordon, Georgia; three brothers-in-law, David Myrick of Gordon, Georgia; Dexter (Tonya) Myrick and Tristan Parham both of Milledgeville, Georgia; one uncle, Douglas Womble of Irwinton, Georgia; six grandchildren, Kylani and Khenix Ford both of McIntyre, Georgia and Xorri, Xhaavin, Xiiah, and Xaeyiin Veal all from Milledgeville, Georgia; bonus son, Theon Ford, bonus daughter Tu’Aijah Warren, bonus brothers, Ferrell Strange, Sr., Benjamin Strange, Jr., Shurn Chatman and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and other relatives.

Public Viewing will be held at the funeral home Friday, October 25, 2024 from 11:00-7:00PM.

Wilkinson County Memorial Chapel – Irwinton has charge of arrangements
